Challenge

In 2010, we were asked to begin a new process at Glam Media (later changed to Mode Media) to develop a concept for a Consumer Product and Experience that could leverage the existing network of content creator businesses that had been the core product that Glam sold to brands. 

 

Solution

First we prototyped the idea for a consumer media property that could be a “showcase” for creator content that could then be sponsored by brands. We launched Foodie.com and the Foodie iOS app in 2012. Later, we evolved the platform to be multi-category and combined all of our past media channel properties under one umbrella company - Mode Media. In 2016, the company was doing over $100M in revenue and the content platform for consumers was growing at a rate of 40% year over year.
